Responsibilities
Perform flight mechanics analyses, including handling qualities, stability assessments, and relevant test activities.
Act as a technical expert for flight mechanics-related decisions.
Contribute to aircraft-level integration (from a flight mechanics perspective) by providing tools and expertise to support the activities of other technical teams.
Support the planning and execution of flight test programs for handling qualities based on industry standards (ADS-33E-PRF, MIL-STD-1797, MIL-F-8785).
Play a key role in the development and management of flight mechanics analysis and design requirements, including validation, verification, and certification compliance.
Collaborate closely with the system safety team to ensure flight mechanics aspects are considered in aircraft-level safety assessments.
Develop best practices by combining knowledge from conventional aerospace approaches with innovative methods for eVTOLs and electrified regional aircraft, adapting to the needs of a lean start-up culture.
Desirable
Demonstrated experience in handling quality assessments and flight stability evaluations through simulation and flight testing (ADS-33E-PRF, MIL-STD-1797, MIL-F-8785).
Familiarity with Part/CS 23/25/27/29 and experience in developing means of compliance for flight characteristics requirements.
Experience generating and managing technical requirements for the flight mechanics discipline, from capture through validation and verification.
Strong understanding of aircraft development processes (e.g., ARP4754).
Demonstrated ability to work across multiple disciplines and harmonize technical challenges across teams.
Experience in adopting new aerospace technologies and developing novel aircraft configurations.
Proactive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills to manage internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and regulators.
Location
Primarily onsite work with flexibility to travel to international locations as required.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering or a related discipline.
Fluent English skills, both written and spoken, with the ability to build positive relationships in a multilingual environment.
Minimum of 4 years experience in flight mechanics, stability, and control for air vehicles (preferably rotary wing).
Strong understanding of aerodynamics and its impact on flight mechanics for both rotary-wing and fixed-wing aircraft.
If no existing experience with rotary-wing aircraft design, demonstrated ability to quickly learn the differences from conventional fixed-wing aircraft.
Experience working across all aspects of aircraft flight dynamics analysis, from concept generation to certification and entry into service.
Proficiency in analysis tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, FlightLab, and Python.
Multidisciplinary understanding of flight physics, including aircraft performance, propulsion systems, aerodynamics, and mass properties.
Knowledge of rotor blade aerodynamics and rotor dynamics and their influence on flight mechanics analysis.
Experience planning and executing flight test programs for air vehicles.
Job Description
We are currently seeking a passionate and talented Flight Dynamics Engineers to join our Flight Sciences Team. The role is multidisciplinary, and applicants must have a passion for new technology and be comfortable working in a lean environment to help achieve program objectives and deliver a range of certified eVTOLs and electrified regional aircraft into the Advanced Air Mobility Eco-System.
The role requires knowledge across all aspects of flight dynamics and flight mechanics (Flight Characteristics) analysis for manned Air Mobility products, including:
Defining, developing, and implementing the environment, design requirements, models, and tools for flight dynamics and flight mechanics analysis.
Performing 6-degree-of-freedom simulations to predict flight characteristics and handling qualities; evaluating flight dynamics and flight mechanics for rotary-wing, fixed-wing aircraft, as well as new-generation aircraft (eVTOL).
Preparing Flight Test Plans and Certification Test Plans.
Integrating across disciplines, including Aerodynamics, Simulation, Flight Controls, Tests (rigs, ground, and flight), requirements management, and all activities associated with achieving certification.
The successful candidate will form a part of a small technical team and requires good interpersonal skills (in a multilingual environment), a strong work ethic, efficient self-management, and passion to learn new skills and help develop others.
